I was given a Foley planer/moulder for free in June. I beleive it was left outside for a while so it is fairly rusty. I read that the best way to clean the rust off the cast iron is to either use a wire cup brush or a scotchbrite pad. But the paint has peeled off the extention wings as well. They are just a piece of steel bent to shape. What should I do to clean the rust off of those, then should I paint them again, if yes then what with? Also are there any important electrical parts that should not be overlooked? This machine needs a complete overhaul so any help is appreciated.

Kevin,
Foley and Belsaw were once a combine company call Foley-Belsaw. If this planer moulder is one of the handful of models that they made you can get new parts for it from Belsaw. Google "Belsaw" and you'll find them. They are in California.
I have a Model 912 that I use as a moulder. Most likely the infeed and outfeed tables were not painted on the top surface. The stand and sheet metal cover were painted.
Hope this helps!
