I waited till now to pick this stuff up, I am FAR from out of burl material, but I wanted some bigger pieces, SOOOoooooo!
A friend went with me and he bought the other half of the load, together we spent $150.00 (plus our time).

Rhinebeck was disappointing (in terms of sales)...
I had INCREDIBLE recognition, and LOTS of compliments, but...
We had a great time, next year I hope to make a profit!
(thanks for asking;))

OK, What kind of a cherry tree is that? would you happen to know the species?

I have not seen anylocal cherry get that large here in Minnesota. I am trying to find someone with some heavy wooded areas to scope out and take a few possible red or white oak burls. And if I head north a little I can find some nice sugar maple. but would prefer cherry.

I'll put on some coffee and leave a flashlight by the pile so that you don't hurt yourself in the dark of night:)

Around here, we just call this black cherry, and this isn't the big stuff...
Three years ago, I had a split trunk that was about 36 inches across. Since it split, we were able to get it on the bandsaw mill and get some REALLY nice gigantic blanks.
I have another tree to do, probably this winter, that one is 28 inches in diameter, and has some REALLY big burls on them (I am one of the luckiest guys I know):D
