View Full Version : Packaging Turnings

I just sent my sister a small walnut box for her birthday. While packing the box up I realized that my package was pretty funky - used UPS box, peanuts, box wrapped in an old used plastic bag and a hand written label because my printer has other ideas about what it should do.

If you were to send a turning to a paying customer what would your package look like? I guess this is timely as the holidays are fast approaching.

Thanks,
Burt

Tissue paper next to the wood, then a layer of thin bubble-wrap, and styro peanuts to fill the (free, unused) USPS Flat-rate Priority Mail box. Label gets printed from the USPS web site when I buy the postage.

There may be cheaper ways, but I doubt there's an easier way.

I agree with Lee, The only thing I would stress is to use acid free uncoloured tissue.

The non acid free tissue can affect the finish on the item and I have known colour to rub of onto the wood as well.

Burt, it is a little bit more expensive, but I use a pack and mail place here that they do all the packaging for me and also lowest price, etc, UPS or USPS depending on what and where I send. To me, it's worth it, and also a friend is the owner of that little business so I like doing business with small business owners and avoid big chain corporations when I can. Best to you on your shipping! PS - I have a stubborn printer just like that, wonder if they're related!!! Jude
