I have found a used Rigid jointer for sale. Does anyone have any experience with the JP0610 model? At 1Hp it seems a bit underpowered. From what I can tell, this is a benchtop model with "legs".

Thanks!

The Ridgid model you speak of has pretty good reviews. 1 HP should serve you well, Some of the old Delta 6 inch jointers only had 1/2 HP motors. It isn't a benchtop model, the bed is 45 inches long and does come with a stand.

I have it and like it. Defiantly not a bench top model. The length of the beds are a big improvement over the bench-top models. You will be hard pressed to find a bad review of it online.

if its the one with the grey colored legs it is the one i have. once i set the fence to 90 it was perfect. I got mine off craigslist. ive run oak, maple, purpleheart, wenge, cherry etc through it no problem.

I've jointed rough sawn oak for two bedroom sets and more picture frames than I can remember with mine. I've never found it to be underpowered. Mine was 110 and 220 wired, and I'm running it on 220. I'm not sure if that helps.

There are a host of good jointers with a very similar design. It's definitely a stationary tool and will weigh in around 200#. You're not likely to find it underpowered. If it's in good shape and the price is right, it should serve you well within the limitations of a jointer of this size.

I was jointing Curly Maple last night with no tearout on my Rigid. It has been a great machine, except I wish it were 12" instead of 6"...

I've had this jointer going on 3 yrs now. It has PLENTY of power ...I have never bogged it down, nor have I got any "scalloping". ...for the money it's a strong performer.

I too have one and would easily buy it again.

That wouldn't be the same one in Williamsburg, VA would it? I was just looking at that one today on CL.

One HP should be fine on a 6"er. Keep the blades sharp and as most have said it should serve you well.

I have one as well. It is a fine machine. I would buy one again in a heartbeat.

I have one. As others have said, it's a good machine. It's also virtually identical in deisgn and features (including the 1 HP motor) to most of the other 6" imported jointers on the market.

I have one and love it, dunno how I ever lived without a jointer. Only complaint (besides wishing I had a BIGGER jointer) is that it's very top-heavy and prone to tipping. I bolted mine to a mobile base for a bigger footprint.

I have owned one for a couple of years and used it a lot. My experience has only been good. It's biggest drawback is that it won't accomodate 8 inch or wider material. If you bog the motor down, you are trying to remove way too much material. A more powerful motor won't be of any advantage.

I've had mine for two years and love it. No problems at all. It has great dust collection built in to a very nice stand. Be sure to get the matching planer!

I have used one for 5 years now with no issues other than the stock knives. When you replace your knives do not order Ridgid ones. Lots of other good vendors for knives out there. As long as the width, length and thickness is the same.
