The secret behind the photo is that the guy doing the turning is only 6" tall.

That is nuts. Of course the turners in the group are starting to look to their trucks and wondering.....

Don....you are so right!!!! Getting a catch while turning THAT would truly be earth shattering! Can you imagine standing next to that thing...well close enough to stick a gouge inside that thing at 500 RPM?!?!?!?!?! I belive I would have to change my pants. ;)

Can you believe it! The dummy in that picture isn't wearing a face shield. :D I wonder how high that would bounce should it come off the chuck.

Julie,
I think that those folks should visit their doctor and get a prescription for Avatar. From what I have been told, that is the latest drug to fight the world-threatening plague called, "Turning Addiction". ;)
On second thought, I'm not sure that there is hope for ANY of us. :D

Jules,
Do you know if there is a finished product of the hot tub project:confused: Snooped all over the sight and it eludes me if there is.

OK, something just does not jive here. The article states:
"In all, 298 separate pieces of wood were fixed together using 1,213 gallons (7.5 litres) of glue"
Roughly, that means that for every piece of wood they used, they applied 4 gallons of glue to it. I don't think so. Must be typo - since I know that 1213 gallons is WHOLE lot more than 7.5 liters. I could believe 7.5 liters.
Maybe they meant to write "12-13" gallons.

Maybe they are using a CA glue finish on that monster. :D It would take a bunch, but not those numbers. I suspect a minor typing faux paus.
