I have not posted anything lately, not that I have not been turning. This is a long leaf Southern pine burl given to me by a friend. The natural edge bowl measures 8.75 inches wide and 5 inches tall. I had planned to make the bottom a little smaller, but it did not work out. I have a natural finish which I have only buffed with trippoli, white, and wax. This piece was the most difficult to sand I have ever sanded, and it is #1039. The sanding pads gum up with the pine resin. I did learn to use acetone to get the resin streaks out before I moved to the next grit. When the bowl is placed in a room the pine resin is a refresing natural scent in the home. I hope you like it as much as my wife.

Beautiful work Glenn, did you have trouble when turning with the sap or was it just during sanding?

Steven, the while you are turning the piece the wood comes off in small chips. These will stick to your clothes, and are even difficult to blow off cotton cloth, but the clothes smell great if you like pine resin sent. The resin does not really cause a lot of trouble while turning.

I hope you like it as much as my wife.

Since I have never met your wife I don't think it would be fair for me to compare her to this bowl. I do like the bowl though.
