It snowed most of the weekend so it made turning ornaments seem a little more appropriate.
The first is Tagua nut and African blackwood, then Osage Orange with Redheart handle, then a couple red cedar (one with a heartwood handle, one with a sapwood handle).

Very nice work. You have inspired me to give these a try as soon as it drops below 90 degrees here!

Curt....You are really getting these ornaments down pat. I hope I get my shop finished and the new lathe operational into time to join you and the others in the exchange. I want that shop finished first, however!

Very well done sir!

Curt

Sorry about that "S" word but being 89 degrees here with high humidity. I sweat my you know what this weekend working on my lawn getting ready for the fall.

Anyway great looking ornaments. I have a question, what size are the bells???? What is your finish of choice to put on them??? If you were to gues how much do you think they weigh being you used exotics which are a bit heavier???? Thanks for the reply.

Nice work! I especially like your use of the sapwood cedar with the heartwood cedar. Nice touch.

Something that someone suggested at a conference somewhere was that at least one part of any ornament should be very light colored wood. Maybe even as close to white as possible. The thought process was that if the folks actually put the ornaments on a tree, there can be a danger of not removing the ornament from the tree.

Someone else's wisdom offered.
