Hello folks,

Well this week I wanted to get some of my holiday gifts completed so I looked through my scraps and got enough wood for some end grain cutting boards. The woods are lyptus, walnut, bubinga, paduak, and purpleheart with some mineral oil. Sorry the pictures aren't that great but you can see my helper peeking her head out in one of them and go Rangers.

Have a good weekend.

Kyle

Wow! Those are beautiful.

If I ever received a cutting board like that, no knife blade would ever get close! :)

Man now those are really something, the grain is just awesome.

Could you elaborate on how you made them as to getting that grain pattern?

It's hard to tell but how thick did you make them. Thanks Jim

Bill,
All I did was do like a regular panel glue up with 3 pieces of wood and then put the long board on the cross cut sled and cut the strips to the desired thickness of the cutting board. You then just flip flop the pieces around until you find your desired grain pattern. It is simple and much easier then doing for instance a chessboard pattern.

Jim,
All the boards are a bit thicker then 1.5" and roughly 9" x 21". I have another long panel gluing up at this time for 3 more boards, just trying to crank out the holiday gifts.
