What with all the lead scares out of China these days, are there any test kits/strips that can be had cheaply? Preferably ones NOT made in China!

I saw some in a store once. Bought 'em and never used 'em.

Do a google search for "Lead paint test strips" and you will get lots of choices.

Just another reason why it's harder to raise kids these days. Glad mine are grown (no grandkids yet so far).

Check your local hardware store. They have a Q-tip type swab that is in an ampule with a chemical that reacts in the pressence of lead. It is intended for lead paint. You swab the surface and if it turns pink or red it indicates lead. They are cheap and pretty reliable. I'm not sure how sensitive they are, but they work well on lead paint in the home.
