Does anyone know where I can get a piece of 1/2" DIa. m2 stock about 12" long.
I would like to make a tool that I saw Jimmy Clewes using in Turnitup video that he made. It looks like it would work really well for boxes.
Thanks

Go to http://www.mcmaster.com

Search on HSS

You can thin it down your search from there.

Or consider using 1/2" cold rolled for the shaft, with a carbide or HSS insert for the sharp end.

If M2 is not already hardened, it may not be something for DIY heat treating.

Try locale machine shop supply, and dont forget it needs to be hardened when your done grinding the cutter portion as M2 is soft in unfinished state.

in the spirit of carrying this a little further... where would one get the material for a hss insert? buy a replacement cutter used on one of the hollowing systems and fit it?

I just made a Oland tool using a peice from this set from HF. Go to their website an put in item number 40641-5VGA for a search. It has worked well for me.

Hope this helps
