Not sure what the wood is but I woud guess Acacia on Chilean Mesquite. The piece is 10 x2 and the finish is Minwax Antique oil that was just rubbed out with 3m finishing pads to a satin finish.

Nice curve on the bowl Mike. It has a lot of walnut qualities from the angle you're presenting it but like Jon said, a little more of the inside might help with the identity.

Thanks everyone. Sorry never got around to taking a picture of the inside.
I should explain I am familiar and have worked with both Chilean Mesquite and Acacia before and have both in my shop right now. Their is a type of Acacia that the wood pretty much looks exacty the same as the Chilean mesquite (to me) and without the bark I can't tell them apart. I got this piece from a tree trimmer about 9 months ago before I had worked with either so did not label the rough out since I did not have any idea at the time. Since then I have gotten a lot more familiar with local tuning woods. Here in the desert we have less species then a lot of you have but a lot of what we have besides some Mesquites is not native to the US, so it can make it interesting to ID wood at times.

What a beautiful curve! Way to go Mike. 'Dunno' wood is one of my favorites.
