What alternatives do I have to purchasing a 12" Forrest Chopmaster? My initial project is 3/4" hardwood flooring, oak trim and picture frames.

Amana/Dimar make good blades, as does FSTool. I've never used their 12" own both of them in smaller sizes. The local sharpening shop sells FSTool and all the local industrial guys use them.

I've had this one on my saw for a few years...clean cut...has held up better than I expected...I think it cost me ~100.00

I bought a nearly unused CMT melamine blade from Creeker for $55 shipped. Cuts like a cream and leaves a glassy edge.

Infinity and Ridge Carbide make blades that I consider comparable to Forrest. The Freud LU80 is a great choice that goes on sale often. The new Delta Industrial line is now the former DeWalt Series 60 which includes some nice blades that also often go on sale....ie: 35-7649.

I don't know how much hardwood flooring you're going through, but you might want to use a separate blade for that project and your woodworking projects.

Almost every equal blade is in the same price range. The Chopmaster grind is quite often referred to as a picture frame grind. 4 ATB and a raker with equal pitch, 0 to -5° degree hook. The one on my saw runs about $200 but it is the thicker plate version for a Pistorius rebored to 1".
