after 9 months of on/off working on it as time and other projects permitted, I finally finished a project for me... my workbench.

Some details about it... top dim's 31in x 80in (including end vise) x 3.5thick. A combination of hard and soft maple. Aprons are 8in wide, intended on being replaceable. My best edjumakated guess is the top weighs over 250# without the emmert installed. Base is made of red oak and plywood cabinet. Shop made drawerpulls and solid oak drawers, ply bottoms, full extension slides. Danish oil and poly finish on the base, Danish oil/ wax on top(still to be applied)

Awesome. That thing looks built to last. Just curious on the drawers facing the back though. I thought you were putting this along the LH wall in your shop. Are you going to be able to leave the bench out in the middle of the shop? Or is it going to stay on that caster base?

Well Doug, I got to thinking on the whole layout of my shop and got to thinking on how to best utilize space. The bench will be going over by the wood rack... I just realized, you havent been over since shortly after I picked up the bandsaw... things have changed a bunch and will soon be changing more getting ready for a cyclone and ducting over the winter. The casters are temporary so that I can move this beast, I should be putting it into position this weekend and re-doing some lighting (cold weather ballasts) and putting up an air filter unit.

I oriented the drawers so that they open to the interior of the shop instead of to a wall where there isnt as good of light. I will post some progress picts next weekend unless SWMBO has other ideas/plans:eek:

Don't they always have "other plans?" ;) :D

Your bench is fantastic. You can do some very serioos work on that bench. The shavings on the floor in some of the pictures are a nice touch. I've seen pictures one of those side vises but never installed on a bench. That looks rather iteresting. I'm green with envy.
