mosture meter

Do any of you use those??? I just made a large bowl out of ambrosia maple, thought it was dry enough to finish, and it's warping on me. I'm not really upset because it still looks kind of nice, but I figure that a moisture meter might correct my bad judgement. I could use a dose of patience, but then my extravagance in buying tools might atrophy.

I used a moisture meter on one of the first bowls I ever turned while I was attending a woodworking school in New Hampshire. It worked great. It didn't, however, stop me from blowing up the bowl :D
