I just returned from Menards where I went to buy 4 24" Irwin Clamps. I really like their clamps and have some 6" & !2" clamps made by them.

I was looking at the Menards Tool Shop brand and there is a significant difference in price; $24 for the Irwin and $13 for the Tool Shop brand. Both carry a lifetime warranty. Both are close to the same functionality. I am not sure what I think about the hand guard over the clamping mechanism on the TS brand. Will it be in the way or is it a good idea? The other question was if the thumb screw to secure the end of the clamp in place would come apart with use since it is a plastic knob on a bolt.

What do you think of the Tool Shop Brand clamps. Are they good or a bad purchase? I can live with a few different colors on the clamp rack if they are worth the savings. But I would rather pay more for a better product.

What do you people think?

Stick with the IRWIN if you want better quality and better results.

I have a few of each and really dont notice a huge difference however that "guard" thingy just irritates me sometimes!
