Just got a new Rolly Munro Mini-Hollower and I've been saving this little piece of redwood for special occasion...

4" wide x 3.25" tall, opening 1.25". This stuff was pretty fragile so I left the walls a bit thick as you go down. Sanded to 3600, antique oil and fondled to a low gloss.

Sorry for the pics, but my photo setup was dismantled to clear room for replacing the motherboard in LOML's computer. Still haven't got things back together. You have to look close to separate the form from the shadows.

Critiques are welcome, but may be ignored!

Very nice Mike, the oil really sets off the grain. I not sure about the fondle part tho:eek: .

Very pretty hollow form, Mike.

What do you think of the new tool?

What can I say? I'm a wood junkie, it was all I could do to keep my hands off it until it cured!

I really like the hollower. Thanks for the tip George, it's going to be able to handle anything I can put on my mini. There's going to be a learning curve on the set up and use, though just from the first use it felt very comfortable. I was surprised at how agressive it could be, I'm going to have to practice some fine work with it.

Beautiful little hollow form Mike! Love the wood and finish! The rounded lip on the opening softens the overall form. Nice work!

I like it Mike.

I guess the one thing I would wish for is a little more height or a smaller base, but that's not a criticism, per se, just a preference.

I can't say anything about you fondling your wood. I do all the time, and it agitates my wife.

"Put it down until it's ready or your gonna ruin the finish!!!"
But honey I want to look at the grain! And it more glossy when it ain't dry yet.

By the way great looking piece.

Jim, I agree completely. This is only my second HF and I've felt that way about both. I didn't notice it on either one until I finally un-chucked and set it upright. Oh well, guess that's one of those things that come with experience.
