Gaining On It-Coffee Table W/PIC

Hi all,
This is a requested Birthday present for my Daughter-in-law. Birthday is past, but I'm gaining on finishing it. I'm ready to build the drawer fronts, add the knobs, and build the top. The base is poplar and will be painted her choice of color. We are going to Woodcraft soon to let her pick out some hardwood for the top which will not be painted.

The table looks great!
Is this going to be one of those with glass in the top so things can be displayed in the drawer? SWMBO is after me to make one of those.

No glass in this one. Just a solid glued up top of hopefully some good looking exotic hardwood. Don't know what she will choose until she sees the choices. Have a great day.

Chris, this looks too pretty to paint! I know your customer is always right, but I've seen some amazing projects from people like Jim Becker made out of Poplar. His finishes on Poplar are beautiful and I hope to try it out on one of my next projects. May be worth considering. Excellent work, be sure to post a pic when you wrap this project up!
