I'm pretty pleased with the way this turned out, and more importantly the client was delighted!

If I could sell and make one of these a week I'd be a happy man!

Very nice job Brad !! It looks outstanding. I have a very similar one for my plasma but mine is made to fit in a corner of a room.

Brad, I have to agree - that is beautiful. I'm also impressed that you completed it in a week! I would be ashamed to say how long it would take me to complete something similar (I did not say equal).

Veneering is on my agenda.

Brad...well done!

The time you spent on the veneer work really brings this piece to life. Making this piece at the rate of 1 a week would be a heart attack for me. Even if I worked 23 hours a day x 7 days, I could not get the veneer work as nice as yours.

Absolutely stunning. I couldn't make one of these in 1 DOG week.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

As for the time taken, unfortunately when you do this game for a living you've got to get quick!

Basic carcass in veneered MDF with mahogany trim - 1 day

Veneering MDF doors & top with some help from a fellow cabinetmaker friend and the use of his bagpress - 2 days

Edging and hanging doors and final sanding etc - 1 day

Finishing with 4 coats of gloss AC lacquer - 1 day

Final assembly & delivery - 1/2 day

I got $3000 for it so it wasn't a bad weeks work.

Great looking cabinet. Love the way you did the corner hinges so the doors would fold all the way back without making the hinges too obvious. What is the banding between the crotch center and the cross banded edge?

Brad,

The very same cabinet is posted at Family Woodworking under the name Duncan Cheslett. Are you the same person?

I am nowhere near that level of work. Great job. Did you draw plans for it or were the plans pre made. No way you did it free hand.

Plans?

The veneering for the doors and the top was carefully worked out and jigs made.

As for the cabinet work, I've never drawn plans in my life!

All you need is a quick sketch, make a cutting list, and then start sawing...

Al,

'Duncan Cheslett' is an alias I use on Family Woodworking to fool them into thinking that I don't post on here as well!

Keep it to yourself, though!

Cheers
