I am hoping to find someone gifted in the art of band saw identification. I recently bought a used 14" band saw and the catch is that this saw was probably made in 1986 (date listed on motor) but there is no brand or manufacturer info found anywhere on the saw. It's a 1hp saw, Motor has a serial number "Ser. JS. 270" but that's all the info there is.
Anyone out there who can give me a lead?

My ultimate end game is to find a riser block to add. In the pics linked you can see where the extention arm meets the main body , but there is a short monster bolt there. The dimensions of the arm base are 4.5" by 3.5"

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice anyone can offer.

I have no idea but it looks well built and heavy. How much did you pay for it?

Hey Matt;

Judging by the castings, etc. It looks to be a chiawanese made saw (DELTA clone). You may be able to get a riser from Grizzly for about $50 or so. There has been some chatter on another forum of the grizzly riser working on older imports. Use a Timberwolf blade and it will serve you well. Don't expect to resaw with success. There is too much flex and the Hp of the BS is most likely under powered. But its a good saw for general ripping, scroll work, etc. I do use my grizz BS for small resaw; <6", with a slow feed rate. Good luck.

Come join us at OWWM.com & OWWM.org for old arn resources.

Hi Matt:

This machine looks like a bandsaw that was sold by Enco manufacturing company. I think it was made by Raycon manufacturing in Tywan. You may want to call Enco for more information and send them a copy of your photo. My son had a bandsaw which looked identical to yours but the color was blue grey. Enco has a web site at (www.use-enco.com (http://www.use-enco.com)) They mainly cater to the machinest industry but carry woodworking tools as well.:) :) As Chris stated above, your re-saw capacity will be limited due to horse power & flex.

Hope this helps & good luck

Matt,
Compare it to the photo in this link if so parts from a Delta will fit it.. If it's the same go to Ace Tool Repair website in Canada, go to band saws and go thru their diagrams til you find the one that looks most like yours. The riser will be right there
