This Walnut bowl measures 3 1/4 high by almost 7'' wide, it had some nice figure in it and I decided to put some feet on it. The inlay is something I came up with myself but I don't know if it is an original idea or not. I crushed up a stick of yellow and a stick of blue side walk chalk leaving some chunks in it. The yellow and blue make green but the chunks won't mix creating the speckles. I mixed it up in some epoxy and this is what I came up with. Comments welcome. Antique oil finish.

It turned out great!

I would like to try that. Which epoxy did you use?

Mike, that happens to be one of the prettiest pieces I've ever seen. I love the inlay, I love the form, I love the feet, and the figure in that walnut is quite unlike any I've seen before.

Did I say I love it????

We need a thumbs up smilie!

Awesome wood and the inlay is nice. The design is different than the standard form and it's very pleasing. Nicely done Mike!!!!

And since Nancy wanted a thumbs-up smiley? Here ya go. :D

I used the 5 miniute epoxy from Walmart. As for the feet , I just turned the form on the outside and then vac chucked it to hollow out underneath and then used an oscillating drum sander to form the rest. Thanks for the compliments guys, and you too Nancy for loving it.;)

Very impressive Mike! The bowl (even without the modifications) is one to be proud of. Beautiful wood grain, form and you have to love the glass-like finish! Great idea on the feet - a really creative way to showcase the bowl! Your idea of using different color chalk for an inlay is outstanding!! Never would have thought of chalk... Great work Mike! Had to save this one to my favorites!

I love it too. Favorite part is the inlay, great look to offset the color in the wood. Form is splendid!!!
