and see how my current suppliers pricing stacks up against what some of you other guys are paying. My high volume consumables other than lumber are hinges and slides. I am currently buying blum ½" overlay european style hinges at www.ahturf.com for $.97 each, their part number is 38n355c.08. For slides I have been going through www.outwatercatalogs.com. They offer the 22" full extension slide with 1" overtravel for $6.13 per pair in lots of 15 (pairs) or $7.23 each for smaller quantities. Their part number 01-9400-22 (page #272). Neither of these items are packaged for retail so you will need to buy the mounting screws seperately but they are offered at bulk pricing as well.

Are you familiar with the "Adventure for Wish Kids" program that has a chapter there in Columbus? (www.afwkids.org) They host programs throughout the year for children with serious medical conditions. I bring this up because one of their fund raising events is taking place in October. They host an auction of donated items and woodworking projects bring high bids for them. If you have the time you might contact them to arrange an item for the auction. We have been doing that at CLT for several years now and they have been very appreciative.

I don't think you will be able to tell the difference. I can't.

I ordered a bunch of blum hinges and slides from ahturf last summer for my kitchen. Best prices that I could find. I liked the blum tandem mounts - concealed. They had the blumotion ones for less than the price of the regular ones at the other places.

Dang, thanks Ed. That would have saved me $140 a week ago, but I'll be sure to keep this bookmarked. better prices than any of the other web-tailers I had been using.

Appreciate the heads up!!!

...I am currently buying blum ½" overlay european style hinges at www.ahturf.com... (http://www.ahturf.com...)
I've had good luck with A&H Turf, but have some concerns about one of the products it carries ( http://www.ahturf.com/catalog/itemdetails.phtml?ss=b%07%07c%071291%07a%07C%07e%0 71%07g%0757%07f%0717543%07z%07435e (http://www.ahturf.com/catalog/itemdetails.phtml?ss=b%07%07c%071291%07a%07C%07e%0 71%07g%0757%07f%0717543%07z%07435e) )

I've just sent them the following email to ask some questions about it.
----------

I am considering purchasing one Big Al for Hire, and have a few questions. Being a closeout, I see returns are not accepted. That would be a problem, as I would only need it for a few weeks. Could I return it if I paid a restocking fee? The cheapest option would be to strap it to a pallet and load it on a flatbed truck. Would that be OK if I were to do so before winter sets in?

I am concerned about durability and maintenance. Last year I bought a Little Louis for Hire from another supplier and it proved very unsatisfactory. Firstly, it came with quite a bit of shipping damage and neither the seller nor shipper would do anything about it. A few days after receiving it one of its knees went out and I had to pay for a costly replacement part (though I did save the labor cost by doing the repair myself). It was also quite foul-mouthed and the only way I could shut it up was with duct tape. I even had trouble getting rid of it after I concluded it was useless. There was no way I could sell it, and neither our garbage nor recycling service would take it. I eventually had to pay under the table to have a tree removal service take it. (Don’t ask.) So I guess I’m wondering if I’d have the same problems with the Big Al. Does it come with any sort of warranty? Also, does it come with a user’s guide?

I never read the catalog/website from cover to cover. That is really scary.

interesting if I was only familiar with the term "salice". Are they the clip ons that require a seperate mounting plate? Is the $3.42 each for a set or a single slide?
