Another Curly Sumac

This piece is African Sumac and it is 6 x 3.25 inches. The finish is Watco Danish oil that was buffed out.

Both of the sumac bowls you posted are great. I really like the foot on this one and the curl looks very nice.
Too bad this stuff cracks and warps so bad, otherwise it would be a great wood to work with.

I like it too! Beautiful wood, (was it grown in Arizona or is it truly African?), beautiful form, and I absolutely love that little flat bead foot (yep, coaster, as Ken called it)!

Allan - African Sumac is a fairly common tree in AZ and this wood was salvaged from a construction site about 2 miles from my house. Kevin McPeek, Jason Clark and I all went so it was a total Saw Mill Creek group. We were lucky that one of the trees had quite a bit of nice curl to it.

Mike, you make sure you take real good care of that bowl. I live only an 8-9 hour drive from Phoenix, I have friends there, and I need to go visit!! I just may surprise you.:p :p
