Hard & Soft Woods Finished Together

Hello.
I am making an endtable that in the center is soft wood(Kauri), and the outside is a hard wood(Morado).
Will I run into a problem when putting the finish on them together?

I just wasn't sure if the softer wood would soak up more than the harder and cause problems.

I've just done this with poly on a 4 veneer inlay piece and some parts did suck up more than others, but just on the first coat. I ended up with 4 coats and by the 3rd the sheen was nice and even among all the woods.

It could...or maybe not. 'Depends upon the individual species. DO A TEST PIECE from scrap before you try to finish your real project... ;)
