This is African Sumac and is about 8 x 1.75 inches. The finish is Watco then Beall buffed.

Sorry about the picture I noticed their seems to be some dust on the lense.
Comments and critiques are always welcome.

The form is classic, the wood looks rich and elegant. Very Nice!

It's not often you get figure like that in Sumac. Great use of it.

Mike beautiful bowl I love the shape. The ones that I have done with this rim angle it felt to sharp on the outside edge, so I taper the rim to a more right angle to the side. But I do like the look of yours.

Very pretty stuff! I do very much like this shallow bowl form, too.

Why didn't you bring this piece the meeting on Saturday? It's a beauty.
One more thing, the dust is on the piece, not on the lens. Small specs of dust on the lens will not be noticable in 99.99% of photos. Depending on the camera and the lens you could have a spot on the lens up to 1/4" in diameter and probably wouldn't notice it that much.

Jason,
It was out sunning by my pool the day of the meeting. Just buffed this and another Curly Sumac last night. ( for those of you who don't know African Sumac is a fairly unattractive pink until left in the sun then it turns red)
Hmmmm I will check but I am pretty sure it is on the lense. Unlike you I just have a crappy camera ;-).

Nice piece Mike. Looks to have a nice weight to it.
You weren't the only one to miss the meeting. I was on the road from AR to IL Sat. Back in town late tonight.
