Derek, another well written and photographed review. Now where is that review on the new plow plane?

Thanks for the review and especially for the trick with Allen keys. I had looked at the tool and felt that I would use it most for very small work. I was surprised that it wasn't offered with other size cutters.

OK - resurrecting an old thread here but I got a LV giftcard for Christmas and one of the things I'm looking at is this small router plane. I've got the bigger LV router and have been real happy with it. But here's my question:
If you check the top LH pic on LV's site they show using this to groove a board edge
http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&cat=1,41182&p=57677
What's the mechanism to set the distance of the slot from one of the board edges? I can't figure out why they'd make this with the rounded sides instead of sides that were parallel to the blade. At least then you could clamp a straight fence piece onto something and register the edge of the plane against it.

I can only assume that it was done the way I did it in my review - that is, first knife the outer lines (e.g. with a wheel or cutting guage), chisel out the sides, then remove the waste with router plane. As you cut within the groove, the side support the cutter and help you continue deeper.

I can't figure out why they'd make this with the rounded sides instead of sides that were parallel to the blade.

I feel the same way. So ... I assume that the small router is thought of as essentially a freehand tool. For example, to be used in inlay.

Thanks Derek
Seems like they missed an opportunity to make it even more useful. A bit surprising given LV's normal rep for improved designs. Oh well.
The plough was another one I was looking at for possibly gobbling up my gift card. Thanks for the review link.
