Kentucky based furniture maker Brian Boggs will build a three-slat ladder-back side chair, in Cherry wood. On Saturday, hand tools such as drawknives and spokeshaves will be used to bring pieces to their final shape. How to size the tenons to fit the mortices exactly will then be demonstrated.
The precise and fascinating process of drilling the holes for the rung mortices will commence on Sunday morning. This will be the only time a power tool is used. Chair assembly will follow and, if time permits, the pining of the slats and weaving of the hickory bark seat.)
