Just couldn't resist starting a new thread. Got the new 60W tube from Universal last night - $1050. The time, from when I walked into the shop unitl I was testing it, was less than 20 minutes. The tube sits in a fixture so there is nothing to unbolt/bolt and there are no re-alighnment issues. In my initial tests I was cutting 1/4" ply at 200 ppi at almost 3 times the speed, the issue now is not burning the wood. I can live with that problem. Hats off to Universal.

My experience was nearly the same except mine was in the 36th month of a 36 month warranty. Mine was in and operating within 24 hours from the time I detected the problem and at no charge.

Lucky YOU!!! My first tube took me over 3 hours to properly align (and I'm a little brighter than most~what with 6 years of high school and all;) ) I found it to be a nightmare! The second one-well I learned to think like a MIRROR and adjusted things BACKWARDS-20 minutes :o

Glenn,

Glad you had a positive experience with the tube replacement.

That is one of the advantages I saw in the Universal Laser Systems line of lasers when I was looking. I had read here how much of a pain it was to change out tubes in other brands.

Price of the tube was the second issues that made me go to ULS.

The folks in Scottsdale, Arizona sure do make lasers right!

AMEN!! to that, Ed. We have two of them. Our M-20 was built in 1996, and is still on the original tube with no problems. Only $850 to upgrade to a 25W if and when we need it. Great machines!!! We are sold!!
