Hi folks,

I've got a type 6/7 frog (three patent dates on the lateral lever) for a #4 or #5. I have no use for it. I paid 2.50 for the busted frankenplane plane because I wanted the busted tote! It has had a citric acid bath, so its clean. If you have a use for it, its yours, for the price of a plane ticket out of Alaska (priority mail) to the destination of your choice. If you want to be cheap about it (parcel post), I can put it on the barge for a scenic trip across the Gulf of Alaska. Parcel post takes 3 weeks to the east coast!!

First PM gets it. Send me your address, and I will ship it off. You can send me a check for exact postage when you get it.

I would like this to go to someone who has an immediate need/use for it.

Would this frog fit on a #10, by any chance?

If so, i'm quite interested.

Jason,
I have no idea. I don't have a #10. I wish i did!! This frog is 2" wide. Does the mating surface look like it would match up? Is your #10 a type 6 or 7?

Perhaps someone else will have a definitive answer for us. If it will fits your welcome to it.

Jonathan, I'll take a look when I get home. Something tells me though that the #10 is quite a bit narrower. How can i find out what type I have? (i don't have much knowledge on the history of them, so that's probably a noob question)

Jason,

Check the type study here (http://www.hyperkitten.com/tools/stanley_bench_plane/dating/)

I'm not sure if #10's fall within this type study or not. I don't have #10. Perhaps someone else knows. At any rate, you may be right, it may not fit a #10. According to Blood & Gore , a #10 is 2 1/8" wide while a #4 is only 2" wide.

but remember that it sticks out on each side. I just measured the frog on my 10-1/2" (same width, shorter body, like a No. 4 vs. No. 5), and it's only 1-3/4" wide, a full 1/8" narrower than the frog on my old low-knob No. 4. I didn't check hole spacing; I suppose if hole spacing is the same, one could grind off 1/8".

Jonathan,

Thank you for being patient with my questions. I got out my ultra-precise super bent up measuring tape that i carry around and precisely determined with great accuracy that a 2" wide frog would be exactly "Too Big" by a very precise "skosh".

Sorry to take up the thread with all my hem'n haw'n and withdraw my "dibs" on the frog.

Upside, you have just given me tons of reading material! :D
