These are the first lidded boxes I made. The largest is mahogany and the other two spalted maple.
They were fun and a challenge. I find hollowing out end grain is tough. I took an extra Harbor Freight round nosed scaper and reground it flat across to make a flat scraper for the bottom of the boxes. Jam chucking to finish off the bottom was also a bit of a challenge. All finished with Danish Oil and then Beall buffed.
Critique welcomed.

Well done Mike, they're beautiful!
I find end grain very difficult also. What size blanks did you start with?

Fred, the blanks were approx 3" square and 5" long.
Thanks to all for all of the positive feedback. I have been turning about 3 1/2 months and see progress with each new project. Being recently retired, I am blessed to be able to spend a little time on climbing the learning curve. Attending a local turning group certainly helps.
