The last time I ordered for Rockler I took a look at their whats new area and saw this little gadget, really neat.

I got mine and it really works nice, I was making some panel doors today and at glue up it was just great. No trying to keep the tape on the one end as you are checking the other and for larger items I sure it would be even better.
The center rotates so it make no different how large or small the item is, it will be a straight line from corner to corner. A magnet holds it to the tape so it will not slip off or out.

I will have to say it was $4 well spent.

It sure is and the thing about it, it works.... and works very well.

Now I don't know why I never come up with those little things like that.

Make sure to keep a copy of these on a gadget list somewhere, or your family may get you the new "gadget" like that automatic (powered) adjustable wrench.

Maybe I'm missing something but...they don't show (for mysterious reason...) how I'm going to check diagonals when I'm clamping in this method...

Lee Valley has a similar product called a "Tape Tip" 50K58.01 is the stock number and the cost is $3.95. And it's orange...which is easier to find in the shop sometimes...

Edit...Ooops! Cary beat me to it!
