This is my flute version of my deer grunt call. This one is made of red cedar from Missouri and is approximately 8 1/2" long, the first photo shows the call put together. The finish is my poly blend and a final wax coat.
The second photo shows the exhaust barrel and the mandrel that I made to turn them. The mandrel is 3/8" at the top end and then then increase to 1/2" and then 5/8" and then drops to 1/2" to fit in a collet chuck. The barrel is drilled part way first with a 5/8" bit and then finished with a 1/2" bit. This mandrel works on the pin lock system, where the small pin rolls on the flat spot on the mandrel and locks the wood blank in place.
Thanks for looking.
