Now for the results. As the pictures will show, it can produce some impressive shavings. I bought this plane mostly for working end grain, and I’m not disappointed at all. I placed the shavings with the respective box for the blade that created them. I took a swipe across some wide soft maple, and then placed some end grain shavings with the 25 degree box and some curly maple shavings with the 50 degree box. It’s hard to show how smooth the finished product is, but the curly maple has a couple of tiny bumps that I would compare to dust nibs in shellac. It looks wet because I moistened it with mineral spirits to see if it would make a difference in the picture, but I don’t really think it did. I’m confident that I could shellac over these and the sanding between coats would eliminate these.

To sum things up, I’m very pleased with the plane and the results it produces. My future plane purchases will definitely include exploring Veritas options.
