Hi,

I just turned an end-grain vase about 12" tall. I would like to put a collar on the opening. Any reason I could not glue end-grain to end-grain to make a collar?

Thanks!

NONE! Just use Titebond II (2)... It is supposed to be failproof when properly applied.

Robert, you can turn a short tenon on the piece you're going to use as a collar, the same diameter as the opening of the hollowform and the same length as the thickness at the opening, and make the piece concave so it fits the contour of the top of the hollowform. Then glue it into the opening. Then you can shape it how you like, turn a hole for the opening being careful not to get it bigger than the tenon diameter. Then you won't see the glue line from where the tenon is attached.

Hope that helps (and makes sense).
