My son is on the local 5th grade traveling football team and I made this 'sign' to let all the neighbors know we are proud of him. Lettering is cut out of 1/4 birch ply, painted white and brad nailed on. The 'helmet' is made from a piece of left over flooring from the house down the road that is being built.

Very cool, Jon!! I've always thought it would be cool to have one of those when I was playing, a la Saturday Night Lights. I'm sure your boy is proud, too!

Thanks Keith,

Yes, we are proud of him. But we would be proud of him if he played football or not. This coming season for basketball the older son wanted to know if I was going to make a sign for him to put in the yard. I said, "You bet ya!" :D

I've got it ready for painting, now we'll just wait to see what number of Jersey he will have.

Update on the Boy. He finally got to start on the defensive line at Guard on Saturday. He had 4 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Oh, did I mention they double and triple teamed him the whole game? (the boy is big, for 11 years old he weighs 154 and stands around 5'6"). He usually is has around 4-6" on everyone.

The first down, he knocked the kid down in front of him. He said the second down the kid back away and ran from him. (they then put someone else over the guard position and that's when he started getting doubled up.)

In the pic below, he's the one in the middle, #73
