Was just watching This Old House, and they were sanding some wood floors, and the sander had a mini Oneida cyclone bult on it. Did a very good job. They were impressed. Funny thing is, the cone was clear! Jim.

Jim, are you sure it wasn't the Mini CV06 Cyclone by Clear Vue?

Any problem with static discharge (boom) on those clear tubes?

It spelled out Oneida Air Systems on the top part that was not clear. Looked smaller than either one of the mini's I've seen pictures of. Couldn't have been more than 12 or 15" tall, and maybe a little smaller. Looked like the suction hose came off the bottom of the cone, but that doesn't sound right. At least it didn't have a chamber that collected the dust like we see with the normal cyclone. So not sure what the advantage would be for the cyclonic action. Interesting sander anyway. Jim.

Oneida originally developed the small cyclone specifically for the floor sanding business...I saw the prototype when I picked up my system a few years ago and was getting the fifty-cent tour of the facility. They subsequently released the Dust Deputy. The Clear-Vue product came later.

Haven't seen the show, but one of my friends who does floors bought one last year and is nuts about it. They have a website: http://www.oneidavac.com

I have one of the Clearvue minicyclones. It does a great job of keeping shopvac filters clean. I DO notice that the static builds up on the cannister. Is there a way to discharge and ground this safely?

Other than that, it really is a fantastic product. It's turned my 16gal shopvac into an excellent home shop dust collector.

It's only $100 on Clearvue's website. It connects to a lid of a 5gal bucket.
