Geez, that would almost be worthy buying to resell.

As I mentioned in another thread, I bought this saw last year fro about $900 from Rockler. It's an industrial saw produced byu Delta in Brazil. It has a different throat plate and arbor. I just ordered a spindle that I can use to extend the end of my arbor for dado operations. So now I'm in for about $950. I understand that the mobile base offered by the jungle isn't compatible. I know this saw's base is bigger than the Hybrid saws, not sure how it compares to a unisaw base.

I have this exact saw and I dont see anything that says Brazil. Mine says made in Taiwan. Doesnt really matter where its made, Its a great deal for $600. I paid $1k through Amazon and am very happy with my saw. I wont argue thats it is or isnt a Unisaw, but the owners manual refers to it as a Unisaw. If you are looking for a cabinet saw, you better snap one of these up quick. You wont be sorry.

I didn't see anything on mine about origin, bu tI talked to two different Delta reps who told me that it was made in Brazil. Anyway, I tried to contain my enthusiasm, but I too am very happy with it. I took the table off to get it down stairs more easily and I was impressed with the construction.
I was told also that the parts are not interchangable with a unisaw. Don't know for sure, but the arbor and throat plate are different.

No riving knife, no sale. Regardless how low the price.

So what's the problem with the arbor length? Arbor on my Delta contractors looks to be ~1.25", is it considerably shorter on the saw in question?
Shoot, I paid $950 for my saw with table extension a quite a few years ago. May have to get this one whether I need it or not and build a table.

So what's the problem with the arbor length?
Delta sells a longer arbor and dado table insert. The problem is people comment on something they dont know anything about. The stock arbor is long enough to install up to 13/16 of an inch of a dado set. If you need more dado width, you need to change the arbor.

The model numbers are 36-729 without a fence, 36-730 with the Delta T2, 36-731 with the Unifence, and 36-732 with the Beismeyer. The data tag is on the backside next to the dust port.

Dang, thats a good deal. I paid $650 for my used Rockwell unisaw and had to move it myself.

At that price, it almost gives me buyer's remorse. Just last week I paid almost the same for the Grizzly hybrid. Although I must say, there is absolutely nothing about the Grizzly I don't like. It sure would have been tempting to get an extra horse for no more money.

The only problem I see then are the complaints about the throat plate. Good or bad, they seem to be selling. Amazon says only 5 left.

Josiah theres nothing wrong with old American iron, if it was in good shape you still got a deal.

I may not be an expert on the saw, but I talked to two Delta reps that told me that the longer arbor (they call it a spindle) is required for a full 13/16" dado or moldinghead cutter.
I checked my saw myself and could not get exposed threads past the nut with a 13/16" dado. The dado also rode on the threaded portion of the arbor, so I called Delta. When I didn't lile the answer, which appeared to be in conflict with the owners manual, I called the local Delta rep through Rockler. I was told by both reps that the saw is capable of 13/16" dado cuts with an available accessory kit and that Delta routinely includes information in the manual that may require additional accessories without stating as such.

Lance,
I suggest that you check with a professional. I'd hate to see you or anyone else get hurt from a dado or molding head that is improperly secured.

Yeah, I'm still happy with it.

if i were to order this saw i would have to run about 60' of wire to my garage for the hook up- any idea if i need 12/2 or 12/3? or do i need to go heavier gauge?

thanks,
rb

I would run a 30 amp circuit, which needs 10/2 with ground. If you want futureproofing you can run 10/3 with ground for a neutral, but I've never seen a 240v table saw with a neutral.

I just bought this saw and I am planning on running a 30 am circuit for it and an additional 20 am circuit for the dj20.

I will post pics when it arrives... It may be a bit before I get it all hooked up and working though. I have another gloat that only John M knows about that I will have to post soon too :)
