yeah, clear schedule 40 stuff though is the reason.

That would cost a few bucks to outfit a 5 drop shop huh? :)

Just for kicks I did a rough calculation. As best I can recall I used the following:

6"
90's: 4 x 289 = 1156
45's: 7 x 377 = 2639
Wyes: 3 x 528 = 1584
Reducers: 2 x 197 = 394
10' duct: 7 x $310 = 2170
4"
Wyes: 3 x 309 = 927
90's: 2 x 161 = 322
45's: 2 x 210 = 420
10' duct: 2 x $170 = $340

A Whopping $9952 to do my install in clear PVC.

OUCH, that hurts to even think about.

$10K... woof.

I'm wondering what type of applications need this... and I'm thinking that it might be chemicals or perhaps waste-water treatment plants?

Sched 40 is tough stuff, and I don't know how they achieved clear, but given that it's capable of a high PSI burst rating, it's gotta be some really impressive plastic :)

Now all of a sudden I don't feel so bad for spending a thousand bucks on golf clubs

I guess this stuff is intended for architectural use at that price.

Now the interesting thing would be to use it for a plumbing drain stack. Mabey run it right through a hotel lobby, or the living room in a house :p

There has got to be a cheaper grade out there somewhere.

I'm guessing whoever uses this stuff probably only uses it in short sections for visual monitoring, or has short runs. Sch 40 is good, but most water mains in PVC use sch 80 to take the pressure!

If you check down the page, there is Sch. 80 clear. 10ft. of the 6" is only $410. I'll take two!:D

If you're just wanting to see some dust go by, you can get 4" acrylic tube at TAP Plastics. A 6' (4" OD Clear) tube is only $55. You could always just use short sections to view your flow in various points in your system maybe?

I actually wasn't interested in using it for duct work but stumbled across their site quite by accident. I was googling about for 5" acrylic or other plastic tubing for possibly making a bandsaw DC port and getting pretty much nowhere. One of the attempts at changing search terms had the clear pvc result so out of curiousity I looked. I thought it was interesting enough to post.
