Day 1
After watching the pod cast for the Wood Whisperers cutting board, I decided to make two of them for my sisters for thier birthdays. I am making them out of Purple Heart and Curly Maple. Here are a few pics of the surface prep, dry fit and glue up of the first one. Dry fit size is 15.5"x11"x.75". More to follow.......

Day 2
I removed the board from the clamps and cleaned it up with the planer. I then cut it into 7 strips the same widths. The board was dry fit before final glueing and then glued and clamped.

Grant,

Very nice project! I'm sure they will be appreciated.

Reminds me, though, that I need to make a cutting board for MIL!

It is, I had to have a chat with my daughter who sat it their when she brought it to the garage for me. I hope she doesn't do that again.

Looking really good, I have the purpleheart cut for 3 boards like that and I just need to get the maple cut.
They make a great board and with the scraps I have found that I can add just a little more wood to it and make more.
