With the realease of the official logo this week I have been able to put together some items to help show off your Feedom Pens spirit. Please take a look at http://www.cafeshops.com/freedompens

Hats aren't the only thing we have either. We have mugs, shrits, hats, and I am working on some other items.

NEW ITEMS 1/30/04 Calendar, postcards, note cards!

All proceeds from this shop will go to help buy kits for The Freedom Pens Project. I am working on getting together some stuff for all you die hard SMC'ers that want hats and stuff too. Enjoy.

Awesome.

I am a serious baseball cap addict so I just ordered a couple.

Those look cool.

What is the adjuster? Is it the plastic or the cloth band?

Whatever it is, I am excited.

Thanks Bro.....

Rob,

depends on which cap you ordered. The one pictured above is a velcro strap. I think the Black cap is a velcro strap too, and the Trucker's hat is the plastic snap kind. Maybe you need one of each ;) Also, you can get the hat pictured above in the Khaki (as shown), white, or gray.

Bill,

If you don't mind gray then I have a shirt that you can get in 4X in the store now. It has the same pic on the back as the fitted white T. Considering I am the size of a small child, I want to make sure I keep people who are real man size happy ;)

A couple of new items have been added to the store. A calendar, post cards, and note cards. These cards would be perfect to write thank you notes to those who have donated to the cause. They have a logo and a pic of some of the troops we care so much about courtesy of the US Army. www.cafepress.com/freedompens

Here is a pic of the calendar and a direct link to purchase.

Maybe some of you will think this is stupid and others will think it is pure brilliant.... but why don't you put some of the better pens up for sale in the store?

This would:

1. Allow some of the featured artists to get some exposure for their work.

2. Allow people who are not the recipients of the program to acquire one of these fine pieces of art.

3. Generate more revenue for the project.

4. Get Arron off the boxer short idea..... :D

What do you think???

Gary,

This merchandise is not being sold as part of, or by the Freedom Pen Project. The FPP gets a small percentage of any sales which are made by cafeshops.com. FPP does not have a "store" per se.

The "sale" of Freedom Pens has been discussed in the past and rejected. All official "Freedom Pens" are intended to be 100% free to our troops in harms way. Sales of pens is not sanctioned by FPP.

Gary/All,

Thanks for the suggestions, we are open to new ideas and everyone knows that we are looking for funds so that we can provide pen kits for those who cannot afford them yet want to make pens for or troops.

Concerning the subject of selling pens you are right that it could be a major source of income for the FPP however it took a long time to convince people that we are sincere and the FPP is an honest effort to do something nice for our troops. Early on there was a considerable amount of skepticism on other forums concerning our Project and we decided that we would not sell any pens at all. This policy is necessary make sure there isn't any misunderstanding that would harm the Freedom Pens Project in any way. Like SawMill Creek the FPP runs on friendship and trust, both have been very successful so far.

As far as exposure for pen turners we don't mind if those who are selling pens commercially receive recognition and sales as a result of their contributing to the Project. Remember that SawMill Creek averages over 5 million hits per month so any messages that are posted here generally receive considerable exposure. Many of the threads in our forums are linked to the Freedom Pens web site and more people are visiting every day. Any company that is a supporter of the FPP is welcome to a link on the FPP support list and any turner who would like to step into the spotlight is welcome to do so, we will do as much as we can to provide support for any effort that promotes the FPP.

I have had a considerable number of people offer to purchase Freedom Pens and the money we could have collected would have funded a lot of pen kits but I have declined every request. Freedom Pens aren't for sale.

Gary your right about the boxer shorts :)
