found this on craigslist thinking about buying it but need more info
"Like Brand New Schuco Inc Model 132 Air Compressor , It was used as a medical pump and a medical supply house was going out of business sale it work great on my air brush , Iam selling the pump cause I no longer use it and I loaned out my Air brush and never got it back ,

was wondering if anyone knew anything about this and if it would work for vacuum chucking on a lathe

Unless you are running a venturi type vacuum pump via compressor, then you need a vacuum pump instead of an air compressor. In case you are wondering, most venturi vacuum setups require at least 80psi at around 4cfm.

i am still lost on this..

just trying to see what it will cost to do vacuum chucking $$ wise ( i know abou tthe gast pump from surplus center but i dont have 220 in the garage )

just thought this might have been a good way to start building the setup

I bought a used vacuum pump from a fellow WW'er for $60. It's small, but it works! The adapter to fit my lathe, hose, and connectors ran me another $125....then came the cost of the Oneway vacuum chucks, 3" and a 5" aluminum bell type chucks that set me back another $120 for both chucks.

The vacuum pump will run the entire time you are turning, most commonly referred to as "constant run" or "constant duty". You'll also need an inline filter to catch any dust, wood, or finish that makes it through the vacuum chuck, through the vacuum adapter and on its way towards your vacuum pump. The filter is there to protect your vacuum pump from damage via any foreign particulates.
