I been looking at a Baracuda 4 from Penn state industries.
I've head only good things about it. Has anyone here got one
or have tried one out.
I have a 20" lathe with a 3hp motor and a bed that is 12' long.
I plan on putting one at each end to hold columns and long turnings.
I also want to turn large segmented bowls.

Dale,

I would look on Amazon for the same chuck. They have better prices on Penn state chucks than penn state!!!
I bought CSC3000C for 149 on amazon and it is 169 on penn states website. plus free shipping.

Go figure....

Dale, first welcome to the creek. That's a really big lathe....12 feet long:eek:

If you look at the PSI website there is a pretty glowing report from a very respected woodturner, Bill Grumbine. That is enough for me:D

I checked out Amazon and you are right they have a baracuda but not the 4 model. I guess I will wait and see if they carry it later. I could save 20 dallors. PSI wants 199.00 for the model 4 and 17.00 for shipping.
plus I need the 1x8 adapter. thats for the info.

Dale, can I ask why you want the Barracuda4 instead of the Barracuda2 that comes standard with 1X8tpi?

Ive been using the Bac 4 for 6 months.. excellent chuck, great value with the extra set of jaws that are included.

Checkout woodturningz.com then call Ryan with the Pennstate item number. He can get it cheaper for you.
