I can't remember the name of it, but it's the .020 stuff that's flexible. I just can't get the setting right. I have too much heat which causes it to bow, but I just can't get through the top layer and it leaves a hazy color behind.

Do you mean laserlights? It's adhesive backed?

That stuff won't lay flat enough without a vacuum table. What I do is tape a few places around the edges tightly onto a sacrificial piece of flat stiff material, like MDF.

No, it's the flexicolor.

I ordered a bunch of it by accident and the stuff is absolutely horrible.

I do have a vacuum table, but the plastic gets warped. I was making a big exit sign and you can see the letters by warpage on the backside.

With my 45w Helix I raster Flexibrass at 600dpi, 100 speed, 45 power. Vector is 500 freq. 30 speed 85 power. It hasn't warped on me yet.

Craig,

You are hitting it with too much power!!

We use 15% power and 90 speed 500ppi and image density 4.

When ever you have a large engraved out area you will take the chance of warpage.

I don't have the same problem with flexibrass. For some reason, it takes a lot more power on flexicolor to remove the color totally.

I use the same settings for Flexi-Brass and the Laserlights (Spectrum Lights). They both have a .001 capsheet and I can blow through that without damage with 1:3 ratio of power to speed on a 45 watt machine.

Sorry - I'm not trying to confuse everyone by changing from PPI to DPI to % of power, I have no idea of the relation of speeds/powers/inches between machines...

Anyway - I change the speed according to width of image. If I'm using full 24", I use 100 speed and 30-33 power. For the shorter distances, I lower the speed to 60 and the power to 20 or so. It makes the ramp-up time and the turn-around time from pass to pass less allowing a faster burn on smaller items.

I also use about the same ratio on the vector pass. I don't like to burn the plastic so hard that it damages the adhesive on the edges.
