anyone know if the safety dado stack from freud will cut melamine? i'm not familiar with this version. never mind, just got an email from charles from freud. it apparently does not cut plywood or melamine very well. thanks charles!

I've been using an SD306 for years. In my experience, it cuts solid lumber very well, with little chipping. It will cut plywood, but sometimes does cause chipping of the surface veneer. I've never tried it on melamine, but that stuff has a notoriously fragile surface. If you must cut dados in plywood or melamine which people will see, I'd suggest a router guided by a straightedge.
