I need a reasonably light duty drill press. Benchtop should suffice. I've found a delta 11-990 on offer (1/3 hp, 12" throat, 1/2" chuck) apparently in excellent condition, light use. Any suggestions what a fair price for it would be?

I have the 9" Delta bench drill press with the same motor, and I wouldn't buy it again, even though I rarely need a drill press with more throat capacity. Its ok for drilling small holes in metal and some wood, but it is grossly underpowered, no matter what speed you use. Its useless as a sanding tool, and really too small to put an x/y vise on.

If you want a drill press get something with a bigger motor. You will find more uses for it than you thought you had.
