This one is definetly different for me. Measures almost five feet long. Body of Cherry and the diamonds are Walnut, Holly, and Bloodwood. It contains five different turnings two of which were turned off center. Antique oil finish.

Nice work. Can you share why you made it?

Mike

That is neat, but Ted asked the best question, Why? What's the inspiration here?

I could see these selling very well at craft and art shows. Something different. Could be your look, gimic, hook ... Mike the Wood Snake Guy.

Well Mike 'the Wood Snake Guy' - I gotta tell you that is one nice looking cane! I think Frank is right in that these would sell really well at art shows just because there is nothing else out there like it! Very nice work!

Mike, I love it! You're going to have to share some info on this one. My wife is a critter nut! As soon as I show her this, I will have my marching orders.

Thanks for the responses guys. Don't know if being known as the snake guy would be a good thing or not:D . Don't know how actually I came up with the idea, usually I come up with a design and then start thinking how to do it. This piece was done the same way that a ribbon bowl would be done ,only it ain't a bowl.

Tim and Ted- why?..... Not sure what you mean by the question? Why do we make bowls other than to sit on a shelf , it was just an idea of another piece of art work. I wanted a change of pace and I hade never seen anyone make a snake.

Wow!

I don't care why. A nice piece of art like this is its own answer to that question.

WOW nice work. The wife and I caught one in our back yard a month ago and seen one as road kill a few houses down today.

I am not to fond of Rattlers lately.

Mike,
I was just curious to know if you had a specific purpose in mind for this piece other than the obvious object d'art. Change of pace always works for me:)
