finish with the lathe on:eek:   . With everyone else seeming to pick up Travis' technique so easily with such exceptional results, I figured I'd give it a try when I got home. Well, it's not as easy as it looks. I dove right in to the shop after work and here's the results/aftermath. Good thing the trusty beagle was there to pull me to safety.... (I'm terrified to think what will happen when I try to buff it).

Maybe I'll give George or Bonnie's version a try later, after I recover from the horror of this experience. :D

The look on the dogs face is priceless. Sorta of a "What were you thinking...." kind of look.

Does SWMBO know that you used an entire roll of "secret ingredients" to attempt that finish? ;)

Are you picking up any alien life form radio waves from your lathe yet? I am interested to know what style and type of music they listen to - that is a price less picture- no doubt! :p

I was looking at the picture with the dog in it when my 8 year old son walks up behind me and says "hey thats a Rikon". I dont even have a Rikon. I think he's getting sucked into the vortex too.

Oh no you don't! You don't live it down that easy! Don't let him get away with it guys... (Not to take away from Doble or anything.)

By the way, I just read through the original Stinson finish thread again. I gotta say, I haven't laughed so hard in along time, as when I read about how we make grits down here... That Andy Hoyt guy is a stitch.. not to mention certifiable nut!:D
