Twin city

Hi,
The company where I work is sending me to attend
a workshop related with the wind power plant integration.
This workshop will be in St. Paul Minnesota next month.
I will be there four days.
Does anybody know where I could go for shopping
and places that I could visit on my free time.
I read about seven corners store and I found
out that it is near to the hotel where I will stay.

Shopping?? LOL Well...if you mean just regular shopping, there's this tiny little place called Mall of America. :D

And you absolutely need to hook up with Tyler!!

Seven Corners is really cool--lots of stuff you can put your hands on. I've been to the Twin Cities twice now and Tyler's and my schedules haven't worked out but I've heard good things. Mall of America is just a big mall. Ikea is across the street which I think is more interesting. There's several Rockler stores (been to the one I understand is the "original" one) since the Twin Cities are home to them and a Woodcraft (never been.)

Non-woodworking, I found the Mill City museum really interesting. It is an Pillbury mill which burned and they rebuilt the museum in the ruins. Actually there is a somewhat woodworking connection as they show you parts of the dust collection system.

There are lots of little interesting places to eat, at least south of Minneapolis and across the river from the south part of Minneapolis. I'm sure Tyler can recommend some if you are interested. My brother and his wife just take us and we have no idea where we are going but its always good.

Oh, we've also gone to Northern Tool which is like a bigger version of Harbor Freight. The one we went to is south of Minneapolis off 35W but I know there are others in the region (also their home.)

You can find Northern tool on line and get a idea of what they sell, 7 corners is a got to see, and the MOA is impressive to most, but you can spend the better part of a day wandering around that place, they also have a pretty big Sears store there.

If the timing works right, maybe we can make it a threesome for lunch/supper.

I will arrive in the afternoon of the 10/september
and I will return back the 14/september in the morning (wthog).
I will be very glad to meet you Tyler and any other
woodworker. I am a newbie woodworker and I have
few tools. I want to bring some of them and
I will make a list.

Go to the American Association of Woodturners. They keep two exhibits there. One is thier permanent collection and the other changes from time to time. AAW is locate in downtown Minneapollis.

Thanks for your reply. Let me see if I could find them.
I am learning woodturning and I have visited their
website. They show beatiful wood pices in the gallery.
Something that I have in my wish list is to buy
HSS to make some gouges. I have already made
their handles they are waiting for the HSS.
