I still look in wonder at Travis' turnings. :) Finally today, I was able to steal his idea and make a repoduction of his method. I realize it's not a Stinson, but it's as close as this hillbilly will probably ever get:eek: .......For your enjoyment......my Stinson finishing technique bottle stopper......

There's the next contest idea. Best use/interpretation of Ken's newly mastered finishing technique - we'll just have to schedule it for mid '09 so the rest of us can get comfortable with it and get some practice in;) .

I think you have to use a chatter tool. If you don't have one then a really long flathead screwdriver can be used in its place....... :D

Nice try Ken, but you failed to maintain a consistent texture.......keep practicing. ;) I honed my Alumiburl texturing abilities in high school back in 1980, when my friends and I made our costumes for a Halloween festival KI$$ concert. :D

Ha! I'm calling NASA. Seems to me they were having a problem with a chipped tile on that shuttle thing. I've got their solution and they wouldn't even have to do a space walk! Just open window in front and let the air unroll...oops......anyway I'm calling NASA! :D

Beautiful work there Ken!!!! Looks like you and Pat have the "Stinson Original Finish" just about perfected.

Seems like I remember that the finish was first applied by Mark Cothren on a finished bowl that was given to Travis. So they both share in the popularity of the finish. :)

Ken,
Don't tell anyone... but our crack (or is that crocked?) Bonkers-R-Us attorneys are working on your "newly stolen finishing technique" patent.

Shiny. Very Shiny. :D
Is it just ME???
The finish is SO shiny, it's really hard to see the grain and/or figure in the wood...
While I admire the expertise involved, I am wondering if there is some way to leave the texture and reduce the shine, just a bit?

Ken, I like that you were able to preserve the delicate details around the top of the stopper.
