This is a spherical ribbon assembled from four stave-constructed half-bowls. Banksia pods were quartered and compound-mitered to construct the bowls. It’s about 12" tall including the stand of macassar ebony.

Malcolm that is gorgeous! It looks like beaten bronze or copper! That would look great sitting in someone's library.

That is simply amazing, the form, the material, and the color are fantastic. One day I hope to due a piece as unique as that. Your one of the great ones.

Malcolm, everything you make is "different". So when I saw the title of the thread. I was expecting a plain platter from straight grained cherry or poplar...now THAT would have been a different Tibbetts. :D As usual, wonderful execution.

Sean, I haven't been invited to bring anything to SOFA. I did supply a photo for the AAW sponsored critique.
