Does anyone have a good source for buying Irish Bog Oak pen blanks? I've seen some listing on eBay, but quantities are generally high, along with shipping charges.

You could try the IPA classifieds at penturners.org

Ebay is about the only consistent source that I have found. And it's not cheap. But, you must remember, you are buying a piece of history. Pass that information along to the customer and they are very happy to pay extra for a pen made from it.

Alex

A friend of mine who lives in England brought some. I have turned one pen (gave it back to my friend) and I have to tell you other than its a couple of thousand years old "it ain't nothin special." Very chippy and you need to wet sand with CA to fill the pores. If you have ever turned Wenge then you know how bog Oak turns.
